Popular Ohangla singer Tony Ndiema has passed away following a series of unfortunate incidents that led to his collapse, several medical examinations, and finally admission to the ICU.

His demise has seen fans, colleagues, and the entire Ohangla family mourning the passing on of an iconic figure in Luo music

Ndiema, popularly known for his contribution to modern Ohangla music, reportedly fell ill after collapsing in Rongo.

He was rushed to Doctors’ Plaza Hospital in Rongo before being transferred to Mediforte Hospital in Kisii, where doctors continued efforts to stabilise him.

His condition became a concern after family and friends revealed that he was unconscious and not responding despite receiving medical attention.

“Dear friends, fans, and members of the Ohangla fraternity, we are saddened to inform you that renowned Ohangla artist Tony Ndiema is currently in critical condition after collapsing in Rongo,” Facebook writer Kokomoh Victor wrote.

The Difficult Hospital Journey Before his Death

The musician’s family said doctors performed several tests, including a CT scan, lung tests, and blood tests, as they tried to determine what was affecting him.

An MRI scan was later recommended, but the family said financial challenges delayed the procedure.

“The family has exhausted all available resources in the fight to save his life and is now appealing to friends, fans, fellow artists, and well-wishers to come together and support Tony during this difficult time,” Kokomoh Victor stated.

The appeal brought together fans and artists who shared messages of hope while praying for the singer’s recovery.

However, his condition continued to worsen, and he was later taken to the ICU, where he passed away.

Tony Ndiema’s Hidden Struggles Before Fame and Death

Before his death, Tony Ndiema had opened up about the challenges he experienced during his music career.

In an interview shared online, he described moments when his voice would disappear while performing despite being able to speak normally away from the stage.

“There is an interview Tony Ndiema had with a certain podcast where he says he could record songs just as well as he could talk to anyone outside there, but immediately he went on stage to perform his songs, his voice refused to come out as if it was not there,” Digital Marketer Opija Wuod Achego wrote.

According to the account shared by Achego, the issue continued for days, weeks, and months.

Ndiema also revealed that he sometimes experienced bleeding from his mouth while talking, a situation that pushed him to seek prayers and guidance from his mother.
