REVEALED: When Edwin Sifuna Will Leave ODM and Launch His New Party

KANU spokesperson Tony Gachoka claims that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will form a new political party and officially join the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Wednesday, July 8, Gachoka said Sifuna will lead a July 25, 2026, meeting that will bring together leaders from the Western region.
According to Gachoka, a new party will be formed, and a coalition will be named following the meeting led by Sifuna.
He stated that the Coalition will join the Azimio La Umoja Coalition alongside the other parties in the United Opposition.
“On July 25th, there will be a meeting led by Edwin Sifuna in Bungoma of the Western region. They will start in Kitale and end in Bungoma. A coalition will be formed, and a new party will be named. That Party will be heading towards Azimio La Umoja Coalition. That is what I am talking about, and they must be given time to be able to sort their matters and create their vehicle, which will then embed itself in Azimio,” Gachoka said.
Gachagua’s Next Move
Further, Gachoka claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political strategy would culminate in the re-establishment and strengthening of the DCP before joining the Azimio La Umoja coalition.
He added that once DCP joins Azimio, it would align with parties such as KANU, Wiper, and Jubilee, with Kalonzo Musyoka expected to lead the opposition coalition against President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential election.

“Once that is done, Gachagua would have finished his political marhmanship by creating DCP again, heading towards the coalition of Azimio La Umoja, where it will find KANU, Wiper, and Jubilee. Kalonzo would be the leader to fight Ruto,” he said.
Kalonzo-Sifuna Ticket
Besides, Gachoka said there would be pressure from opposition leaders seeking to become the coalition’s presidential candidate.

However, he stated that the united opposition would become stronger if its leaders resolved those ambitions and settled on a Kalonzo Musyoka–Edwin Sifuna presidential ticket.
“There are going to be calls for Sifuna, Matiangi, and Kalonzo to run for the presidency. The Opposition will become great if they are able to resolve that and come up with a ticket, and KANU supports a ticket of Kalonoa and Edwin Sifuna,” he said.
