Ruto Awarded the Highest Degree in Kazakhstan

President William Ruto has been awarded the Order of Dostyk (Friendship), First Degree, one of the highest honours conferred by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan.
In a statement, Ruto expressed gratitude and humility after receiving the prestigious award, describing it as a symbol of the growing relationship between Kenya and Kazakhstan.
“Deeply humbled and profoundly honoured to receive the Order of Dostyk (Friendship), First Degree, one of the highest distinctions by the Government of Kazakhstan,” Ruto stated.
He added that the recognition symbolises the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and cultural exchange.
“This award is a testament to the enduring friendship between Kenya and Kazakhstan. It reflects our shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and cultural enrichment across continents,” read part of the statement.
Ruto Receives Order of Friendship in Kazakhstan
The recognition was conferred during his official visit to the Central Asian nation, where discussions are ongoing to strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and Kazakhstan.

Order of Dostyk is regarded as one of Kazakhstan’s most prestigious national honours.
The award symbolises exceptional efforts in promoting international cooperation, cultural ties, economic partnerships, and global solidarity.
It is part of Kazakhstan’s national honours system and is issued in two classes, First Degree and Second Degree, with the First Degree being the highest level.
In addition, it is typically reserved for presidents, prime ministers, senior diplomats, and global leaders who have made exceptional contributions to bilateral or multilateral relations involving Kazakhstan.
Ruto and Kazakhstan President Sign Key Bilateral Agreements Across Multiple Sectors
The two Heads of State reviewed the state of the bilateral relations for both nations and agreed on practical measures to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, innovation, and regional connectivity.

They signed bilateral agreements covering ICT and e-government services, agriculture, transport and infrastructure, finance, tourism, climate action, mining, and exploration and space technology.
“Kenya views Kazakhstan as a vital strategic partner and an important gateway to Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region,” he said in his address.
Further, Ruto and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also discussed closer cooperation between Kazakhstan’s transport corridors and Eastern Africa’s Northern Corridor and the LAPSSET Corridor.
