How Arsenal Were Crowned Champions
Arsenal were officially crowned champions of the 2025/26 Premier League season after Manchester City F.C. failed to beat AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Manchester City needed a win to keep the title race alive, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw, handing Arsenal the trophy with one game left before the season ends.
Bournemouth took the lead in the 39th minute through 19-year-old French striker Eli Junior Kroupi. The young forward received a pass from Adrien Truffert before curling the ball past City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
City equalised in stoppage time through Erling Haaland after Rodri’s shot hit the post and the Norwegian striker tapped in the rebound.
However, the draw was not enough for Pep Guardiola’s side. Manchester City remained on 78 points, four behind Arsenal’s 82 points, with only one match remaining. This meant City could no longer catch Arsenal in the title race.
The victory marks Arsenal’s first Premier League title since the famous unbeaten “Invincibles” season of 2003/04 under former manager Arsène Wenger.
World Leaders Celebrate Arsenal’s Title Win
Several world leaders who support Arsenal also celebrated the club’s historic achievement.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame, whose government sponsors Arsenal through the “Visit Rwanda” partnership, congratulated the club on social media.
“Congratulations to @Arsenal, our #VisitRwanda partner, on being the Premier League champions after a hard fought season! A well-deserved title!” Kagame said.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also celebrated Arsenal’s victory, saying: “22 long years for the Arsenal. But finally, we’re back where we belong. Champions!”
Former Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma shared a celebratory video congratulating Arsenal fans worldwide.
In the viral clip, the former president, who is a long-time Arsenal supporter, raised a glass and toasted the club’s historic achievement.
“Cheers to all the Arsenal supporters,” Koroma said in the video.
