Several Injured After Matatu Overturns Along Thika Road

Several people were injured after a matatu attached to Manmo SACCO overturned near Muthaiga Primary School in Nairobi shortly after 10 pm following a reported speeding incident along Moi Avenue.
According to eyewitnesses, the matatu was travelling at high speed from Moi Avenue when passengers allegedly attempted to warn the driver about his manner of driving.
However, their concerns are said to have been ignored as the vehicle continued speeding towards the Thika Superhighway.

Witnesses and passengers claimed the driver maintained high speed even after leaving Nairobi’s Central Business District, despite repeated pleas from commuters to slow down.
One passenger said tensions rose inside the vehicle as several people raised an alarm over the driver’s conduct shortly before the crash.
“Our Manmo car overturned at Muthaiga Primary School. The driver had been speeding right from Moi Avenue near Clarion Hotel despite several complaints from a lady who was sitting beside me. We ended up hitting a bolt, and the bus overturned a few metres away,” the passenger said.
Shortly after, videos showed members of the public rushing to the scene to assist the injured as emergency responders worked to evacuate victims from the wreckage.
Meanwhile, the exact number of injured passengers had not been established, and authorities have yet to issue a statement following this accident.

Several People Feared Dead as Nganya Full of Passengers, Overturns
This accident came two after 7 people were killed following a road accident involving a pimped Public Service Vehicle popularly known as “nganya” along Enterprise Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area on Wednesday, June 4, 2026.

The accident occurred opposite Nairobi Prison, where the public service vehicle, commonly referred to as a “Detat,” overturned under circumstances that are yet to be officially established.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the “nganya” overturned while carrying passengers, leaving several feared dead and others injured.
Photos and videos shared from the scene showed emergency responders and members of the public assisting victims as rescue operations continued.
The incident caused a temporary disruption of traffic flow along Enterprise Road as rescue efforts and investigations continued.
