Police are looking into three different deaths in Machakos and Meru counties, including that of a schoolboy who allegedly fell from a classroom, a quarry worker, and a man whose body seemed to have been arranged to show an apparent suicide.

Machakos County’s Athi River East Subcounty reported the death of Grade 9 pupil Kefa Mutua, aged 14, who died on Wednesday after reportedly falling from the third floor of a classroom block via a stair grill.

Police said the pupil suffered severe injuries to his head, indicating a skull fracture, as well as massive bleeding.

“He was pronounced dead on arrival at the scene by medical responders,” CSI officers from Embakasi stated.

The CSI documented the area before the body was transported to Kenyatta University Funeral Home for postmortem examination.

Next of kin were notified and visited the school immediately.

“Police say a probe is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fall,” the officers reported.

Laborer Found Dead with Head Injuries in a Quarry in Ngelani, Katani Location

In the second case in the subcounty, a 30-year-old laborer, Bernard Mutiso, was found dead in a quarry in Ngelani, Katani Location.

His employer said Mutiso, a casual laborer, was last seen on Wednesday morning before he went missing, as colleagues expected he had gone to rest.

“By 6.00 a.m., day shift workers arrived at the quarry and found his body on the site,” read the report from the area police.

He had deep head injuries, which police said almost crushed his skull.

The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for a post-mortem to establish the exact cause of death.

“Police are yet to determine whether the incident was accidental or foul play,” said the officers in their report.

Suspicious Death and Possible Murder Staged as Suicide in Meru & Machakos County

Meanwhile, police in Meru County’s Buuri East Sub-County are probing a case where the body of 23-year-old Reuben Mugambi was discovered hanging from a tree along the road in Nkunga Village.

However, investigations indicated that the scene was “deliberately set up to portray as a suicide.”

“Preliminary findings indicate deep cut wounds on the right thigh, lower abdomen, and buttocks. The victim was possibly killed elsewhere, and the body was posed at the scene to depict a suicide,” the police report read in part.

The body was taken to Cool Breeze Funeral Home for a post-mortem examination as police launched investigations to determine the precise timeline of the events that led to his death and apprehend any perpetrators.
