Teenager Arrested Over Murder of 84-Year-Old Woman in Trans Nzoia

Detectives in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested a suspect who is 18 years old and is suspected of murdering an old woman.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect attacked an 84-year-old woman, leaving her fighting for her life.
The victim, whose name is Florence Khosa, was then admitted to Cherenganyi Nursing Home because of the injuries she sustained during the attack.
Florence then succumbed to her injuries while she was receiving treatment at the hospital despite the medical team’s efforts.
Arrest Of The Suspect
After the incident, detectives then launched a manhunt for the suspect, who has been identified as Ezekiel Nyongesa Barasa.
Ezekiel had gone into hiding after committing the crime, which prompted the manhunt by the detectives and investigators.
Following investigations and police operations, detectives eventually tracked down and arrested the suspect believed to have murdered Florence.
Detectives then subjected Ezekiel to an identification parade, where multiple witnesses positively identified him as the suspect in the murder.

Link To Another Murder
However, as detectives delved deeper into the case, another major lead emerged linking the suspect to another murder.
In a twist of events, the suspect was also linked to the murder of an 86-year-old woman in Tongaren, Bungoma County.
Further investigations established that the suspect may have sexually assaulted the 84-year-old victim before she succumbed to death.

Detectives are now conducting forensic examinations and pursuing other critical lines of inquiry to reconstruct the events and establish the full circumstances of the crimes.
Ezekiel is now in police custody, being processed and awaiting his arraignment in court as detectives look at available evidence on the case.
DCI has urged members of the public with information that could assist the investigation to report it through the DCI’s toll-free hotline.
