The bullfighting fraternity in Shinyalu is in mourning following the mysterious death of a well-known enthusiast and proprietor popularly referred to as “DCI.”
DCI was a familiar figure within the bullfighting scene across Kakamega County, where he was widely recognized for his passion and active participation in the traditional sport that attracts large weekend crowds.
“The bullfighting fraternity in Shinyalu is in mourning following the mysterious death of a popular enthusiast and proprietor known to many simply as DCI,”
He was part of a generation of enthusiasts who embraced bullfighting as both a cultural pastime and a form of community entertainment, where matches between bulls draw spectators from across the region.
Shinyalu in Mourning After Death of DCI ,Popular Bull Owner
DCI was the owner of a powerful bull named Shakakhola, which gained popularity among fans of the sport for its strong performances in the arena.
The bull’s name sparked curiosity among followers, with some drawing comparisons to “Shakahola,” a coastal area associated with past tragic events.
However, within bullfighting circles, Shakakhola became known mainly for its fearsome reputation and competitive presence.
His death has cast a shadow over the local sporting community, with details surrounding the incident remaining unclear.

Family Tributes
Family members have alleged foul play, claiming that he may have been targeted prior to his death.
His daughter, Brenda Fassy, expressed deep grief in a public message, saying that her father had been killed and his body dumped at Rosterman after being hunted since Thursday.
“My father was killed and his body taken and dumped at Rosterman. He had nothing on him. My father had been hunted since Thursday… I am so heartbroken, Daddy.”

Elsewhere, members of the bullfighting fraternity and social media personalities have also shared messages of condolence.
Fellow enthusiast and content creator Shipangalia the Bullfighter wrote:
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Team Shakahola for the loss of your dad. May the Almighty God give you strength to overcome the pain and loss.”
He noted that DCI will be remembered as a passionate supporter of bullfighting who regularly attended events and contributed to the vibrant culture surrounding the sport in western Kenya.
