“They Turned Them Into Teletubbies”: Thieves Taught a Lesson as Locals Fully Wrap Them in Tapes
Share
An unusual incident in Indonesia has drawn widespread attention after a viral video showed two men wrapped entirely in bright orange adhesive tape, with many online users likening their appearance to “Teletubbies,” following an alleged attempted robbery.
According to information circulating online, residents apprehended the two suspects before they could flee.
Instead of using conventional restraints, however, the residents wrapped the men entirely in layers of adhesive tape that covered most parts of their bodies.
As a result, the method went beyond binding their hands and feet and left the two men unable to move.
In addition, someone shaped an antenna-like feature on one man’s head using the same tape, further reinforcing comparisons to “Teletubbies,” albeit in a more unsettling context.

Shortly after, the video spread rapidly across social media platforms and attracted widespread attention.
As the clip gained traction, some users raised concerns about the physical impact of the method, warning that the tape could cause pain when removed.
“That’s gonna rip-off their hair,” wrote Instagram user abmannan.motion
At the same time, others questioned the legality of the residents’ actions and emphasized the need for due process.
“Anyone who raps the tape around them must go to prison… they are not guilty until the court say,” commented channquelove21.
Meanwhile, a section of users supported the approach and argued that it ensured the suspects could not escape.
“I love that they packaged them up for police… They’ll have fun opening these gifts, satisfaction, too, when they scream out in pain when they strip off the tape,” said 7n77whitaker.
“It’s catching on!!! We are tired of the system not working globally.” Rockin_d_beard added.

Humour and Skepticism Emerge
On the other hand, some viewers focused on the humour of the situation rather than its implications.
“This is literally the funniest thing I’ve ever seen,” wrote kevisenuo_solo
However, not all users accepted the incident as genuine. Instead, some suggested that the video may have been staged for entertainment.
The two men were later reportedly handed over to police for further investigation, although questions about the authenticity of the incident remain.
