Trump Cancels Planned Iran Attack After Negotiations

United States President Donald Trump has cancelled a planned military attack against Iran, citing ongoing negotiations aimed at easing tensions between the two countries. 

In a statement dated August 2, Trump claimed the US had been fully prepared for military action but agreed to pause the operation after receiving a request from Iran and several Middle Eastern nations to allow ongoing negotiations to continue.

“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II,” Trump said.

He added that the request came after negotiators had reached what he described as the “parameters of a deal.”

Trump Says Proposed Deal Includes Hormuz Strait Reopening

According to Trump, the proposed agreement would include the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and measures to eliminate what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat.

“This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat,” he stated.

In addition, the US president said he had agreed to cancel the planned attack based on the request, saying the decision was made in the interest of global stability and Iran’s future.

“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump said.

Trump further claimed that Israel had agreed to support the diplomatic approach instead of proceeding with military action.

He also urged all parties involved in the negotiations to move quickly toward reaching a final agreement.

US Earlier Warning to Its Citizens Ahead of Planned Attack on Iran

Trump’s latest move comes shortly after the US State Department urged its citizens across the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to depart on short notice.

 It also warned of flight disruptions and security risks as the conflict with Iran appeared to be escalating.

This is after Trump threatened Iran with additional attacks, saying that the U.S. will be hitting them very hard, while Iran has vowed to punish them.

Trump also stated that on negotiations with Iran, he had lost hope in Iran, adding that they kept on telling lies, but his special envoy Steve Witkoff, adviser Jared Kushner, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were involved in talks with Iran.
