Global Energy Under Threat? Qatar Reacts to Attack on UAE Oil Tankers

Qatar has strongly condemned the attack that targeted two UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a serious violation of safety.
In a statement released on July 14 2026, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, they said that the act is a direct threat to global energy supplies and a clear breach of international law.
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack targeting two UAE oil tankers as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a serious violation of the safety of international navigation, a direct threat to global energy supplies, and a clear breach of international law,” read the statement in part.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, such attacks represent a dangerous escalation that could possibly threaten regional security and stability.
Qatar Calls On Iran
The attacks also undermine the efforts that are put in place to promote regional peace and stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar’s call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately cease any practices that undermine regional security.

They also call on Iran to refrain from jeopardizing the security of international navigation and global energy supplies and to fully comply with international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.
Qatar has therefore urged Iran to take urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks on the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions In The Gulf
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf after the reported attack on the two UAE oil tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Qatar has not provided any additional details regarding the attack on the oil tankers or any reported casualties or damage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar reiterated its position that safeguarding maritime navigation and maintaining regional stability are essential for international security and the uninterrupted flow of global energy supplies.
