Two Children Die in Suspected Arson Fire as Mother Reportedly Commits Suicide

Two children, aged three and one, died Sunday after what locals believe their mother allegedly started the fire that consumed their house in Kongonge Upper Village, Rachuonyo West Constituency, Homa Bay County.

Two other children, however, sustained serious burn injuries.

According to locals and police, the blaze consumed the house on Sunday with the four occupants trapped inside the house.

“The fire is said to have engulfed the structure, trapping the occupants,” locals informed police.

Rescuers managed to save two children from the inferno, who were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with different degrees of burns.

Two young children died in the incident as a result of the flames, and their age determined by authorities to be one and three years, respectively.

Investigation into a Tragic House Fire Incident and Suspected Maternal Involvement

Investigations have since been launched into the incident.

Reports indicate that the mother subsequently committed suicide soon after the incident; however, authorities have withheld details concerning this matter as investigations are still underway.

The fire incident that cost the lives of the two innocent children has been described as a tragic incident that also left two other children with grave injuries by locals who urged for greater community support towards distraught families.

The bodies of the two children have been transferred to a morgue pending postmortem, while the two injured are still receiving medical attention at a local health facility.
