The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a US$30 million emergency humanitarian response to help civilians affected by the worsening conflict in El Obeid, North Kordofan, Sudan.
The support comes under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and will be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency.
The funding aims to provide urgent assistance to thousands of people facing severe shortages of food, healthcare, clean drinking water and shelter.
The UAE said humanitarian conditions in El Obeid and nearby areas have worsened significantly as fighting continues.
Many civilians and displaced families now require immediate life-saving assistance.
The UAE called for a coordinated international response to ensure aid reaches those most in need, especially children, women, the elderly and people with illnesses.
UAE Calls for Protection of Civilians
The UAE urged all parties involved in the conflict to protect civilians and respect international humanitarian law.
It also stressed the importance of allowing humanitarian organisations to safely and quickly deliver aid without obstruction.
The country warned against further fighting in populated areas, saying civilian lives must remain a top priority.

Sheikh Shakhboot: People Remain at the Heart of Our Efforts
UAE Minister of State and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, said the emergency response reflects the country’s commitment to helping people in times of crisis.
“This urgent response reflects the UAE leadership’s steadfast belief that people remain at the heart of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts.”
He added that the priority should be protecting civilians, creating safe humanitarian corridors and meeting the urgent needs of displaced people and vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly and the sick.
Sheikh Shakhboot also said the UAE would continue working with humanitarian organisations and international partners to reduce civilian suffering and strengthen relief efforts.
“The UAE will continue to stand by the brotherly Sudanese people and work with humanitarian and international partners to alleviate civilian suffering.”
He further called for civilian suffering not to be politicised and urged the international community to focus on saving lives while supporting independent and impartial investigations into violations.

US$800 Million Provided Since the Sudan Crisis Began
According to Sheikh Shakhboot, the UAE has provided approximately US$800 million in humanitarian assistance to Sudan since the conflict began.
The support has benefited refugees, internally displaced people and communities most affected by the war.
Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, said the new funding forms part of the UAE’s commitments to international humanitarian response plans.
He said the assistance will be delivered in partnership with the United Nations and other humanitarian organisations.
The funding will support the provision of food, healthcare, shelter and other essential services for vulnerable communities inside Sudan and in neighbouring countries hosting refugees.
Leaders Urge Peaceful Resolution to the Conflict
The UAE maintained that there is no military solution to the conflict in Sudan.
It called for an end to the violence, unrestricted humanitarian access and support for a Sudanese civilian-led political process that can restore peace, unity and stability.
The leaders said lasting peace is essential to give the Sudanese people the security, prosperity and dignified life they deserve.
