Wetangula Gives Update on Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi Who Went for Treatment in India

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has provided an update on the health of Kwanza Member of Parliament (MP) Ferdinand Wanyonyi following his return from five months of specialised medical treatment in India.

In a statement on May 7,  Wetangula said he visited the MP at his residence to check on his recovery and to convey goodwill from the National Assembly. He added that Parliament continues to stand with the legislator as he heals.

“This afternoon, I paid a visit to Ferdinand Wanyonyi, Member of Parliament for Kwanza, at his residence to assess his recovery following his recent return from India, where he underwent specialised medical treatment,” Moses Wetangula stated.

He explained that the visit aimed to reassure both the MP and his constituents that leadership remains present during his recovery period.

In addition, he expressed confidence in the MP’s steady improvement and hoped for a full return to duty soon.

“On behalf of the National Assembly family, I conveyed our collective goodwill and solidarity, and extended my earnest wishes for his swift and complete recovery, so that he may soon resume his dedicated service to the people of Kwanza and the nation at large,” he further stated.

Parliament Reaffirms Support During Recovery

Wetangula emphasized that Parliament remains united behind Wanyonyi.

He noted that the institution continues to support its members, especially during periods of illness. Moreover, he stressed that solidarity remains a key value within the National Assembly.

At the same time, Wetangula assured residents of Kwanza Constituency that ongoing development programmes have not stopped.

He explained that relevant teams continue to implement and monitor projects initiated under Wanyonyi’s leadership. As a result, service delivery remains on track despite the MP’s absence.

Leaders Join Wetangula in Visiting MP

Wetangula also highlighted unity among leaders during the visit. He said several officials joined him to show support.

These included Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, Nominated Senator Connie Wakwabubi, and Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat Susan Nakhumicha, among others. Together, they expressed goodwill and wished the MP a quick recovery.

Wanyonyi continues to recuperate at his residence as he focuses on regaining strength after his treatment abroad.
