KNH Opens Applications for Specialized Nursing Courses: How to Apply

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) announced the intake of individuals interested in pursuing the Higher Diploma Specialized Nursing Courses.

The hospital management said these courses will be offered under the KNH School of Nursing.

According to the public notice dated December 10th, 2025, KNH said this application applies to the 2026 intake.

Interested applicants are required to visit the official website of KNH (www.nursing.knh.or.ke) to apply or call 020 2726300 for further assistance.

Step-by-step Guide on How to Apply

1. Apply online: https://nursing.knh.or.ke

2. Attach legible copies of:

  •  Academic & professional certificates
  • Valid practice license (where applicable)
  •  National ID or Passport
  •  E-Citizen application fee receipt (Ksh 1,500/-)

3. Provide your email & mobile number.

4. Health insurance cover is required for the training period.

Courses Offered at KNH School of Nursing

KNH School of Nursing offers a variety of courses that last for at least one year.

These courses include:

  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Peri-Operative Nursing
  • Neonatal Nursing
  • Nephrology Nursing
  • Trauma & Emergency
  • Oncology Nursing

However, the fees for these courses vary between members of the East African community and other Nationals.

An additional fee of Ksh 23,400 is payable directly to the Nursing Council of Kenya for indexing, training materials and licensure examination.

Requirements Needed to Enroll in these Courses

(i) Diploma in KRN/M, KRCHN, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN).

(ii) Two (2) years post-registration as a Registered Nurse.

(III) Must have attained a “C” plain KCSE (“C-” minus for the upgraded nurses) or Div. III in O-level.

(iv) Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya or their country’s Board and have a valid practicing license.

(v) Proficiency in English is mandatory for foreign students.

(vi) Foreign students are required to submit official translations of their certificates & transcripts if in any other language other than English. The equation of certificate grades by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) is also required before commencement of training.

Additionally, each student will be required to have a Health Insurance cover for the period of training.
