Kenya Met Predicts Mostly Sunny Conditions, With Rainfall in Isolated Areas

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast indicating that most parts of the country will experience sunny and dry conditions.

In its forecast published on Monday, February 3, 2026, Kenya Met outlined weather conditions expected between February 3 and February 9.

According to the weatherman, most parts of the country will remain sunny and dry. However, rainfall is likely to occur in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.

Daytime (maximum) average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in several parts of the country, including the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.

Night-time (minimum) average temperatures of less than 10°C are expected in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Kenya Met Issues 7 Day Wether Forecast

For regions in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, Kenya Met predicts sunny intervals in the mornings during the first half of the forecast period, giving way to rainfall in a few areas during the second half. Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in some places.

Areas within these regions include the counties of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.

In the North-western Kenya region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi and its environs, Kenya Met forecasts sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night. However, there is a possibility of afternoon and night showers occurring in a few places during the second half of the forecast period.

Weather Forecast forNorth-eastern Region 

Other areas within this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi counties.

For the North-eastern region, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, the weatherman predicts sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

In the South-eastern lowlands, which include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

Elsewhere, in the Coast region, which includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
