Detectives based at Moyale Police Station have apprehended 33-year-old Festus Arasa Omwamba, a man who has been on the police radar for his involvement in human trafficking.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Festus is believed to be a key player in a larger human trafficking syndicate.
The agency noted that the syndicate exploits vulnerable individuals by promising them legitimate employment opportunities in European countries.
However, when they arrive, the victims often find themselves trapped in illegal and dangerous jobs that take away their dignity and put their safety at risk.
“Festus is believed to be a key player in a more extensive human trafficking syndicate that exploits vulnerable individuals by promising them legitimate employment opportunities in European countries. Upon arrival, these unsuspecting victims find themselves trapped in illegal and perilous jobs, stripping them of their dignity and safety,” DCI said.
Currently, Festus is in police custody, undergoing processing in preparation for his impending arraignment.

A dossier from the National Intelligence Service (NIS), tabled before MPs on February 18, claimed that Festus’ company, Global Face Human Resources Ltd, recruited at least 1,000 Kenyans to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war.
The report also alleges that Omwamba arranged accommodation, facilitated the opening of bank accounts, and coordinated travel logistics, frequently routing recruits through Turkey or the UAE before they entered Russia.
Some victims reportedly believed they were traveling for civilian employment, only to discover they were being directed into military service.
