The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has warned of a fifteen-day traffic disruption on Ngong Road.

In a statement dated Saturday, March 7, 2026, the authority said the affected section is near the Naivasha Road and Kingara Road junctions, around the Junction Mall area.

The disruption is scheduled to occur from Monday, March 9, 2026, to Monday, March 23, 2026.

“Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Ngong Road near the Naivasha Road and Kingara Road junctions, around the Junction Mall area, will experience traffic disruption from Monday, 9th .

According to KURA, the disruption will mainly occur during evening and night hours, from 6 pm to 2 am. Karen-bound traffic along Ngong Road will be diverted from the Kenya Science Campus entrance to the Nairobi City County Training School entrance due to the temporary closure of that section. During nighttime operations, a single lane will be maintained in each direction.

The authority apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged the public to be patient as they continue to transform urban mobility.

About the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover

The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover, also known as the Junction Mall Viaduct, is still under construction as of March 2026. Overseen by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the project aims to ease chronic traffic congestion at the busy intersection of Ngong Road, Naivasha Road, and Kingara Road.

Funded through a concessional loan of Ksh 3.58 billion (EUR 25.3 million) from the Spanish Corporate International Fund (FIEM), the flyover is expected to be completed by July 2027. The initiative aligns with the Kenyan government’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure, enhance urban mobility, and support long-term economic growth.

Once completed, the flyover is expected to reduce congestion, saving time for motorists, public transport users, and pedestrians. It will also prioritize safety by including Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, modern street lighting, and upgraded drainage systems to reduce flooding during the rainy season.
