A female suspect was arrested and a firearm recovered after an early morning police operation in Muthaiga Estate, Nanyuki, Laikipia County, after a series of reported burglary incidents in the area.
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the coordinated operation was conducted at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Officers were strategically deployed at key points within the estate based on intelligence reports and recent patterns that were linked to the incidents that were reported.
Police said that during the patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle that had been concealed within nearby bush, raising suspicion among officers on duty.

Upon noticing the police presence, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene and reportedly disregarded lawful orders issued by officers to stop.
DCI says that officers immediately initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. During the chase, the occupants of the vehicle are said to have actively resisted arrest.
According to the DCI report, a firearm was brandished from within the vehicle, and a shot was discharged in the direction of the officers pursuing the suspects.
Police officers responded in accordance with operational procedures and returned fire after assessing what they described as an imminent threat. The vehicle subsequently drove off the road and came to a stop in a bushy area.
The suspects then fled the scene on foot and escaped into an adjacent residential area in an apparent attempt to run from being arrested.
However, one female suspect was apprehended while attempting to escape after entering a nearby compound.
She was then detained with the assistance of a security guard and later handed over to police officers.
DCI says the suspect is currently assisting detectives with ongoing investigations into the burglary incidents initially reported within the estate.
