Harambee Stars Legend Wanyama Coaches Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars in Ligi Ndogo Camp

Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama led a master class for Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 4 All-Stars on Thursday.

Victor Wanyama, who played for Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur, had engaging on pitch segments with the young rising stars.

The former international footballer lectured the all-star players, who are preparing for the Season 5 kick-off on May 9 in Kisumu County, on discipline, mental strength, and financial literacy.

Player Development and Inspiration

The training took place at Ligi Ndogo Grounds in Nairobi, which was both a practical session on the field and an advice seminar on different aspects away from the game.

The masterclass was one of the ways the former Professional Footballer and Harambee Stars captain wanted to inspire the youngsters by sharing experiences gained from his playing career.

“If this platform, like Safaricom Chapa Dimba, was there when I was at your age, I could have reached far in my career, so players grab this chance with both hands and work hard as you never know who is watching,” the former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic player said.

He encouraged the players to work towards improving all aspects of their lives.

“This is how a professional athlete should be, looking after your body and your mental strength to go far in this sport. Also, take care of your money, save and invest, even if the amount is small,” said Wanyama, who recently announced his retirement.

UEFA Coaching Licenses and Talent Scouting

Currently pursuing the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) A and B coaching licenses in Europe, Wanyama conducted interactive drills and gave live feedback to the all-stars on technique and positioning.

Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 5 kicks off on May 9 in Kisumu as the grassroots tournament seeks to scout and develop young football talent across Kenya.

This masterclass was part of a build-up to the new season, aimed at giving up-and-coming players an opportunity to interact with and learn from leading football personalities.
