Four suspects previously intercepted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) with a homemade firearm and crude weapons have been linked to a carjacking and gang rape incident in Kisii County.

In a statement dated May 10, 2026, the DCI confirmed that the victim positively identified the suspects during an identification parade at Kisii Police Station.

Detectives said they had earlier arrested the suspects while in possession of the weapons before linking them to the violent attack on a young couple.

Police said the incident began at Mocheche Avenue, where six men ambushed the victims as they sat inside their vehicle.

The Gang Took Valuables From Victims

The gang of six reportedly forced their way into the car before taking control of the vehicle and driving the couple to a secluded bush in Bobaracho.

DCI said the suspects robbed the victims of valuables, including mobile phones and Ksh 34,000, before escalating the attack further.

Additionally, DCI said that in a different turn of events, the attackers allegedly blindfolded the couple and locked them inside the boot of the car as they drove around for hours.

The male victim was later abandoned in the Mabundu area in Nyamira County, while the gang reportedly sped off with his girlfriend, who was still in the boot.
