Blow to Ruto as ODM Announces Plan to Field a Presidential Candidate in 2027

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has invited applications from members interested in contesting various elective seats in the 2027 General Election using the party ticket.

In a notice issued by the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), ODM announced that applications are open for aspirants seeking to vie for the positions of President, Governor, Senator, County Woman Representative, Member of the National Assembly, and Member of the County Assembly.

“Pursuant to Article 61(1) of the ODM Constitution, as read together with Rule 7(1) and Part VIII of the Party Elections and Nomination Rules, the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) hereby invites applications from interested Party members seeking to contest in the 2027 General Elections on the ODM Party ticket for the following elective positions: President, Governor, Member of the Senate, County Woman Representative to the National Assembly, Member of the National Assembly and Member of the County Assembly,” ODM said.

ODM Message to Candidates

The party said interested applicants must be registered voters and should submit their applications through ODM’s online portal on or before June 30, 2026.

ODM also encouraged members to verify their membership details through the party verification code as part of preparations for the nomination process.

“Interested aspirants are required to apply through the Party’s online portal: https://aspirants.odm-ke.com/ on or before 30th June 2026. Members are encouraged to verify their membership details via dialing *483*036#,” reads part of the notice.

The notice, signed by NECC Chairperson Emily Awita, stated that the exercise is aimed at ensuring a credible and transparent nomination process ahead of the 2027 polls.

NECC has urged party members to continuously engage the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) for any clarifications via email nebodm.co.ke or phone 0757242495 in order to guarantee a credible process.
