Kenya Railways re-tendered for 24 Diesel Multiple Unit air compressors under the World Bank-funded Kenya Urban Mobility Improvement Project.
The State corporation invited sealed bids from eligible firms to supply and deliver the 24 DMU air compressors to Nairobi Central Workshops Stores, stating the tender is a re-tender under credit number V4940.
The Government of Kenya secured World Bank financing for KUMIP and will apply part of the proceeds to pay for the contract.
“Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using a Request for Bids,” Kenya Railways said in the tender notice.
Kenya Railways will evaluate bids on technical merit and price; however, technical and non-price factors carry 80 per cent of the score, while bid cost carries 20 per cent.
All bids must include a bid security of Ksh 1.5 million, and bidders must submit a bank guarantee from a registered commercial bank in Kenya, valid for 240 days from tender opening.
Bidders must deliver submissions to Kenya Railways Headquarters on Workshops Road, Nairobi, on or before June 11, 2026.
“Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected,” the notice said.
Kenya Railways will publicly open technical envelopes on June 11 at 2:00 pm EAT in the presence of bidders.
Financial envelopes will remain sealed until the second public opening.
