Kenyan Woman Linked to Ksh 55 Million Gold Scam Arrested

Share

Detectives from Nairobi have arrested a woman believed to be the mastermind of a gold scam that defrauded an American investor of USDT 431,380 (Ksh 55.7 Million).

In a statement, DCI said the suspect was arrested at Crystal Villas in Kilimani after a targeted operation by officers from the DCI Nairobi Regional Headquarters.

The Investigative Agency stated that another suspect remains on the run.

According to investigators, the scam started with convincing promises of a lucrative gold deal.

The suspects allegedly told the victim they could supply 400 kilograms of genuine gold bars.

DCI said the offer appeared real and well-organised, drawing the attention of the foreign investor.

The American national travelled to Nairobi to finalise the deal, believing he was entering a legitimate business transaction.

Money Transferred, Then Suspects Disappeared

After meetings, negotiations, and signed documents, the investor transferred millions into the suspects’ accounts.

However, shortly after receiving the money, the suspects disappeared.

Their operation led them to Kilimani, where they arrested Mildred Kache alias Sabreena Ayesha.

Her alleged accomplice, Ibrahim Yusuf Mohamed, escaped arrest after sensing police were closing in.

He abandoned a black Mercedes-Benz E-Class (KCV 910C), which was later seized and taken as evidence.
