IEBC Announces Jobs Paying Up to Ksh 2,000 Per Day – How to Apply

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced temporary job opportunities for qualified Kenyans ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
In a notice published on Thursday, May 21, the commission invited applications for several election-related positions, including voter educators, presiding officers, deputy presiding officers, support electoral trainers, and clerks.
The commission said the jobs are open to qualified candidates residing in the constituencies and wards where the by-elections will take place.
Among the positions advertised is that of Voter Educator, where successful applicants will earn up to KSh 2,000 per day depending on deployment.
Qualifications for Voter Educators as Stated by IEBC
According to the commission, applicants for the voter educator role must be residents of the constituency where the by-election is taking place and should be fluent in the main language spoken in the area.
Candidates must also possess a diploma or higher qualification in relevant fields such as social sciences or project management, with at least three years of experience in voter education, community mobilization, or social work.

The IEBC added that applicants must be non-partisan, computer literate, and demonstrate knowledge of electoral processes, report writing, and community engagement.
Successful candidates will be tasked with conducting voter education through face-to-face meetings, mainstream media, and social media platforms. They will also engage stakeholders, address public concerns, and prepare voter education reports for returning officers.
Constituency voter educators will earn Ksh 2,000 per day, while ward-based voter educators will earn Ksh 1,500 per day.
Presiding Officers and Deputy Presiding Officers
The commission also advertised positions for Presiding Officers (POs) and Deputy Presiding Officers (DPOs), who will supervise polling station activities during the elections.
Their duties will include managing polling stations, ensuring KIEMS kits are fully charged and operational, supervising voting activities, maintaining law and order, transmitting election results electronically, and overseeing election officials.
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens of high integrity, hold a degree or diploma from a recognized institution, be computer literate, and possess good communication and report-writing skills.
The IEBC stated that Presiding Officers will earn Ksh 2,000 per day, while Deputy Presiding Officers will earn Ksh 1,800 per day.
Support Electoral Trainers and Clerks
The commission further announced vacancies for Support Electoral Trainers, who will assist in training election officials on polling, counting, and tallying processes.
The trainers will also help prepare training venues, distribute materials, supervise lower-level training sessions, and compile training reports.

Applicants for the role must hold a degree or diploma, be computer literate, possess training skills, and be residents of the constituency or ward where they apply.
Support Electoral Trainers will earn Ksh 2,000 per day.
Additionally, the IEBC advertised clerk positions for polling, tallying, queue management, and KIEMS charging duties.
Clerks will assist in setting up polling stations, guiding voters, identifying voters, issuing ballot papers, and supporting vote-counting processes.
To qualify, applicants must have a minimum KCSE grade of C- and above, be of good character, and reside in the constituency or ward where they apply.
Successful clerks will be paid Ksh 1,000 per day.
