Super Metro Bus Overturns In An Accident Near Kahawa West

Traffic was disrupted along Nairobi’s Northern Bypass on the morning of May 26, 2026, after a Super Metro bus collided with a 14-seater matatu near the Kahawa West underpass, causing the bus to overturn.
According to reports, photos and videos shared from the scene showed the Super Metro bus lying on its side as motorists remained stranded for some time.
Emergency responders and traffic police from the Kahawa West traffic base arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to help manage traffic and assist passengers involved in the accident.
Witnesses in the scene describe the accident as a scary experience for them describing how the bus overturned.
Accidents In The Country
The area was impassible for a while as the police were working to clear the area and make traffic easy for the road users.
This accident comes amid many accidents that have occured in recent days on major highways across the country.

Recently two people lost their lives after a road accident which took place at Lunyerere along the Kisumu Kakamega highway.
According to authorities a bodaboda rider and his passenger, died on the spot after the motorbike collided with a truck.
Recent Accident In Kakamega
Confirming the incident, Izava North Ward Chief Evans Endesia said preliminary reports indicated that the motorcycle rider may have been speeding before the crash occurred.
The bodies of the deceased were later moved to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary pending identification and postmortem examinations.
Statistics from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) show that road accidents continue to claim lives across the country.

Between January and April 2026, at least 1,189 people died in road crashes.

During the same period, 7,198 people were involved in various accidents, with 3,316 sustaining serious injuries while 2,693 suffered minor injuries, according to NTSA data.
NTSA has continued to urge motorists to observe traffic rules and ensure vehicles are roadworthy in an effort to reduce the accidents on Kenyan roads.
