The Committee voted to suspend all three members on April 24, 2026, because of allegations of fraud in the procurement of insurance for the 2024 African Nations Championship worth Ksh 42.8 million.
The procurement papers showed that the company contracted to provide the insurance, Riskwell Insurance Broker, was only formed on the day the competition started, which is contrary to procurement laws.
FIFA’s Demands
After the suspension, FIFA intervened and demanded documents from FKF to determine whether the right process was followed in suspending Hussein Mohammed.
“We kindly request the cooperation of the FKF National Executive Committee in providing information and documentation enabling us to verify whether the process leading to the provisional dismissal of the above-mentioned officials was conducted in accordance with the FKF Statutes, in particular Articles 38, 40 and 41 thereof.”

FIFA asked for clarification on how the NEC meeting was convened, whether quorum requirements were met and whether Hussein Mohammed was accorded a fair hearing before the resolution was excecuted.
On April 28, the High Court in Kiambu issued a conservatory order stopping any attempt to remove FKF President Hussein Rashid Mohammed, Acting Secretary General Dennis Gicheru, and nominated NEC member Abdullahi Yusuf Ibrahim.
SDT
The SDT also recognised FIFA’s ongoing inquiry as an internal dispute resolution mechanism central to resolving the matter.

It also directed all parties to ensure that any documents relating to the FIFA inquiry are formally filed and served within the set timelines.
Now that FIFA has rejected the suspension Hussein Mohammed is expected to return to office even though his deputy has taken over as acting FKF president.
