Ruto Reveals Details of His Closed-Door Meeting With Gideon Moi

President William Ruto has revealed the details of his meeting with KANU Chairman Gideon Moi at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, October 10, 2025.

Ruto said they discussed relating to the past, the present, and the future.

“Wakati tuliongea na Gideon, tukapanga maneno, ya zamani, ya hapo katikati, ya sasa na maneno ya mbele,” Ruto said.

This translates to: When we spoke with Gideon, we discussed past issues, matters in between, current issues, and plans for the future.

Ruto said he told Moi that it is an appropriate time for Kenya to move to the next level, and that is why he looked for him.

Moi, who was expected to be at the Baringo senatorial race, failed to present his nomination papers on October 9, 2025, a day after meeting Ruto at State House.

“I have looked for my brother Gideon and told him it is time for us to move Kenya to the next level,” Ruto said.

Ruto Reveals Plans to Pull Kenya Out of Third World

Ruto said he wants to work collectively with leaders across the country to move Kenya forward.

He added that Kenya must be lifted out of third-world status, and leaders need to think and work collectively.

He maintained that Gideon will play an important role in helping Kenya transition from a third-world nation to a progressive country.

“We must come and think together. We must pull this country out of the third world. It is possible for us to do it in our lifetime'” Ruto said.

“That is the reason I have looked for my brother Gideon to come and help me pull this country out of the third world so that we can have progressive country,” he added.

Ruto Hints At KANU Joining Broad-based Govt

Ruto suggested a formal engagement with KANU so that it can also be part of the broad-based government.

He said KANU’s inclusion in the broad-based government will expand and strengthen his administration.

Ruto promised that KANU will play a crucial and central role in addressing key national issues.

“I want you to agree so that we can have a formal engagement with KANU, allowing it to be part of the broad-based government. Let us expand this government so that KANU can play a central role as we plan and address matters relating to the country,” he said.
