Can Students Abroad Access HELB Services Online?
Share
Kenyan students studying abroad are able to access services from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) through its online platforms.
HELB digital systems allow students and loan beneficiaries outside the country to manage their accounts, apply for support, and track repayments without physically visiting its offices.
Services available through the student portal include loan application, status tracking, disbursement updates, and access to individual loan statements.
The board notes that anyone can access their services as long as they have a good internet connection and valid credentials.
HELB Repayment Services
According to HELB, repayment services have also been integrated into its self-service systems to allow borrowers abroad to use its services.
Users can also access loans through its official communication channels, including email and customer care services, which are always available regardless of geographical location.

However, the loans board notes that some services may be limited to students abroad. These are features that rely on Kenyan network providers, such as USSD services and M-Pesa services.
In such cases, users are encouraged to rely on the online portal and alternative digital payment methods provided on their platform.
Digital Channels
HELB continues to encourage students and graduates to embrace its digital platforms as part of efforts to improve the efficiency and accessibility of student funding services.
The board maintains that its online systems remain the primary channel for loan management for both local and international users, as it expands its digital service delivery framework.
HELB says its digital transformation agenda is aimed at improving access, reducing delays, and ensuring continuity of services for all users.

Students are encouraged to update their contact details and keep an eye on their loan accounts in order to avoid missing notifications or even issues with repayment.
HELB further says that all official services are only available through their official platforms to safeguard its users from misinformation and fraudulent activities.
