Kuwait has banned the recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya and 25 other countries under new labour recruitment regulations aimed at restructuring the country’s domestic labour sector.
Under the new directive, Kuwait will only allow recruitment of domestic workers from countries including South Africa, Benin, Eritrea, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam and Nepal.
Senegal is also included among approved countries, though recruitment from there is limited to male workers only.
Authorities said recruitment procedures will be processed through the respective governorates.

Kuwait said the updated regulations are part of broader efforts to strengthen oversight of the domestic labour sector and improve administrative controls governing recruitment processes.
The government noted that the reforms are intended to streamline recruitment and ensure better regulation of the labour movement into the country.

According to the circular, the list includes affected countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Togo, Malawi, Chad, Djibouti, Niger, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
