Willis Raburu’s ex-wife, Marya Prude, has revealed that a social media comment she made following Ivy Namu’s breakup announcement led to the loss of a potential ambassadorial opportunity.

Prude said a mental health organisation had initially considered her for an influencer engagement, but withdrew the opportunity after her post attracted criticism online.

“One of my close friends amenitumia a screenshot of a mental health NGO saying they were considering me for an influencer engagement. They are not considering me because what I posted yesterday (‘Kindly respect my privacy as I switch up my hair.’) was me being a bully,” she said.

Her statement sparked immediate debate online, with many users drawing links between her post and Ivy Namu’s breakup announcement with Willis Raburu, which also ended with a request for privacy.

As conversations grew, social media users questioned the timing and tone of Prude’s comment, while others defended it as a misinterpreted expression of self.

As the discussion intensified, attention shifted to comments Marya Prude made around the time of Ivy Namu’s breakup announcement, when she addressed questions about her own marriage.

“I had my own reasons. My reasons? Infidelity,” she said during the session.

She also pointed to challenges she said she experienced in the marriage.

“And the lack of marital rights. I don’t have marital rights. I’m not separated. I am still married. I am still married. I have no marital rights,” she added.

These remarks resurfaced online and added fresh context to the ongoing debate, as users revisited the circumstances surrounding her separation from Raburu and compared them with the current discussion.

Prude Defends Her Social Media Expression

Prude, however, maintained that her recent post did not target anyone. Instead, she described it as a form of personal expression that many misunderstood.

“Previously, I never used to express myself. I never wanted to seem like someone who is complaining. That was ego. For me, that was self-expression. I was just having fun,” she explained.

She went on to defend her online presence and insisted that criticism will not stop her from sharing her thoughts publicly.

“If you have a problem with me expressing myself, the problem is you. I will never feel bad for having a good time on social media,” she added.
