Ministry of Interior Announces 67 Permanent Jobs with Minimum KCSE Grade D Requirement

The Ministry of Interior has announced 67 permanent and pensionable job vacancies in the State Department for Correctional Services, targeting candidates with KCSE grades ranging from D (Plain) to D+.
In a notice dated Thursday, June 18, 2026, the ministry invited qualified Kenyans to apply for the positions through the Public Service Commission (PSC) recruitment portal.
“Applications are invited from suitable and qualified persons for the following vacant posts in the State Department for Correctional Services,” the notice stated.
The vacancies include 18 Cook III positions, five Housekeeping Assistant III positions, 25 Security Warden II positions, and 19 Artisan III positions.

Qualifications for the Jobs
Candidates applying for Cook III must have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) and either a Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Service, or formal food production training lasting at least two months.
Applicants for Housekeeping Assistant III must have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) and formal training in housekeeping or laundry lasting at least two months.

Those seeking Artisan III positions must possess a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain), a Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in areas such as carpentry, masonry, welding, painting, or plumbing, and proficiency in computer applications.
For Security Warden II positions, applicants must have a KCSE mean grade of D+, a certificate of good conduct, be below 36 years of age, and be physically and mentally fit.
Salary and Benefits
Successful candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms and earn a monthly salary ranging between Ksh 21,120 and Ksh 26,250.

They will also receive a commuter allowance of KSh 3,000 per month, an annual leave allowance of Ksh 6,500, a house allowance depending on the deployment region, medical cover, and 30 days of annual leave.

Interested and qualified applicants are required to submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission (PSC) website, www.publicservice.go.ke, or the PSC jobs portal, www.psckjobs.go.ke.
Applications must be received on or before Monday, August 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. East African Time.
The ministry warned that providing false information or fake certificates is a criminal offence and noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. It also encouraged persons with disabilities, minorities, and marginalised groups to apply.
