Kenya Airways Now Lets You Bid and Buy Seat Upgrades Online

Kenya Airways expands paid upgrade options and online bidding for premium seats, giving passengers flexibility to tailor their travel experience while helping them manage cabin capacity more efficiently.

Kenyan Airways passengers who book economy tickets now have more opportunities to upgrade to Business Class and extra legroom seats before flying.

The airline launched the “Bid to Upgrade” feature on its website, which allows customers on select tickets to bid on Business Class upgrades.

Kenya Airways Upgrade Options and Seat Selection

Passengers on eligible bookings will receive an email invitation with instructions on how to participate after their booking is confirmed or can check their eligibility by visiting Kenya Airways Upgrade Flight.

Bidders enter a bid amount, add credit card details for verification only (payment is only processed if successful), and their bid is subject to change and can be cancelled up to 7-10 hours before departure, with successful bids confirmed 12-24 hours in advance.

Kenya Airways also sells Economy Max and Extra Legroom seats on its website to allow passengers to choose better seats at the front of the aircraft or with additional leg room at an extra cost.

This can be selected via the ‘Manage Booking’ tab on http://kenya-airways.com or can be done during the online check-in process.

Kenya Airways offers its customers paid upgrade options into Business Class or to Extra Legroom seats through its website during online check-in, which is available between 48-24 hours before the flight, depending on demand.

“These options give passengers flexibility to tailor their travel experience while helping us manage cabin capacity more efficiently,” said Kenya Airways.

Airline Upgrade Policies and Procedures

Not all bookings are eligible, and upgrade options are offered on a per-ticket basis.

Certain fare categories may be excluded, including group bookings and infant bookings.

Please note that upgrades do not automatically extend the baggage allowance of the original ticket and do not change the original booking, refund, or cancellation policy.

Availability of all upgrade options depends on the number of seats available at the time of purchase or bid.

Customers who miss out on these options online may also request “buy-up” options at check-in counters at the airport, although pricing and availability may be significantly higher and less predictable.

“Please ensure you log in to your manage booking area on kenya-airways.com with your booking reference number and surname to view your upgrade options,” stated the airline.
