Council of Legal Education Announces Job Opportunities for Select Kenyans- How to Apply

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has announced several job opportunities for qualified Kenyans to serve in different examination-related roles for the 2026/2027 financial year.
In a notice dated June 23, 2026, the Council invited interested and qualified persons to apply for various service provider positions aimed at supporting the administration of the Advocates Training Programme (ATP) examinations.
“The Council of Legal Education invites applications from interested and suitable persons for consideration under the following roles,” the notice stated.
The available positions are:
- ATP Examination Invigilators
- Trainer/Facilitator
- ATP Examination Setter
- Moderators (Moderator of Scripts and Moderator of Questions)
- Markers and Re-Markers
CLE administers the Advocates Training Programme (ATP) examination twice every year. The examination covers nine units, including Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Probate and Administration, Legal Writing and Drafting, Trial Advocacy, Professional Ethics, Legal Practice Management, Conveyancing and Commercial Transactions.
According to the Council, the recruitment seeks to strengthen the credibility, reliability, and quality of ATP examinations by engaging competent professionals with high integrity.
Qualifications for Available Positions Advertised by Council of Legal Education
For the position of ATP Examination Invigilator, applicants must possess at least a bachelor’s degree. Experience in customer service and previous examination invigilation will be an added advantage.
Those applying for Trainer/Facilitator positions should be senior academics or legal practitioners with training in pedagogy or andragogy, expertise in assessment and test development, and experience in marking examinations.

Applicants for ATP Examination Setter positions must have at least seven years of post-qualification experience in law, human resources, accounting, office practice or legislative drafting.
Experience in teaching and setting examinations for professional bodies will be an added advantage.
For Moderators, applicants are required to have at least 10 years of experience in law practice, human resources, accounting, office practice, or legislative drafting. Experience as an external examiner or moderator for professional examining bodies will also be an added advantage.

The deadline for submitting applications is July 21, 2026, at 5:00 pm (EAT).
The Council of Legal Education noted that hard copy applications will not be accepted and previous applicants should not submit new applications.
