Bodaboda Association Warns Politicians, Says Riders Will Not Be Used as Goons During June 25th Protests

Several major bodaboda umbrella organizations, including the Kenya Boda Boda Riders and Owners Association (KBA), the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya (DBDDAK), Boda Boda International Management Services (BIMS), and BodaBoda Riders Imarika Foundation (BRIF), have issued a joint statement addressing concerns over possible disruptions on June 25, 2026.

The associations, which represent millions of riders and owners across the country alongside affiliated SACCOs, reaffirm their commitment to promoting peace, professionalism, and uninterrupted transport and delivery services nationwide.

They highlighted the sector’s critical role in sustaining livelihoods and supporting mobility across communities.

“Bodaboda industry remains one of the largest contributors to Kenya’s economy, providing transport, delivery, and mobility services while supporting millions of livelihoods directly and indirectly across the country,” the statement stated.

Furthermore, the leaders note that riders continue to drive economic activity in both urban and rural areas through daily transport and courier services.

Bodaboda Riders Urged to Remain Calm and Continue Working

Amid reports of possible unrest, the associations have urged riders to remain calm and continue operating as usual, cautioning against any involvement in violence or unlawful activities.

“From credible information about possible disruptions on 25 June 2026. We call on all riders to remain calm and carry on with their work as usual, as we condemn violence, destruction, and arson,” the statement added.

At the same time, they emphasized the need to protect livelihoods and maintain order during this period.

Leaders Warn Against Political Misuse

In addition, the statement warned against political manipulation within the sector.

The leaders firmly stated that riders must not allow themselves to be used to disrupt businesses or endanger lives.

“Bodaboda riders will not be used as goons by politicians or participate in activities that interrupt businesses or endanger lives and properties. Bodaboda riders will continue in normal services on 25 June 2026,” it stated further.

They also stressed discipline, responsibility, and professionalism among all riders.

Associations Reaffirm Commitment to Peace

Finally, the associations reaffirmed their commitment to national cohesion, road safety, and the protection of livelihoods.

They called on all riders to uphold professionalism, respect human life and property, and follow the rule of law while continuing to serve Kenyans.

Overall, the sector positions itself as a pillar of stability, pledging to maintain normal operations and support the movement of people and goods across the country.
