Akothee Advises Kanyari on Co-Parenting Amid Custody Dispute Over His Children

Musician Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, has weighed in on the ongoing conversation on social media surrounding Pastor Kanyari and his children.
In a lengthy post shared on social media, Akothee expressed sympathy for Kanyari, saying that co-parenting can be difficult, particularly when one parent enters a new relationship.
“Today, I am sending Pastor Kanyari a big hug and prayers. As a parent, I felt the pain behind your words when you said, “Hata Nyoka anaishi na watoto wake, Pastor.” Those were not just words; they carried the weight of a parent longing for a deeper connection with his children,” Akothee said.
She argued that biological parents can only directly co-parent with each other and not with their former partner’s new spouse or partner.
Akothee Advises Kanyari
Referring to remarks that Kanyari had made about wanting a connection with his children, Akothee said that this situation reflects the struggles many parents face while co-parenting.
According to her, such situations often leave parents feeling emotionally strained as they navigate relationships with their children after a breakup.
Akothee also shared details about her personal life, saying that maintaining a relationship with children can be challenging, especially when parents live far from each other.
She said that biological parents retain rights and responsibilities toward their children, but the quality of the relationship built over time can influence how children relate to each parent individually.
Parenting
She further observed that children may sometimes lean toward the parent they see as more relaxed or available, even when the other parent has made significant sacrifices.
In her view, children often form opinions based on their experiences and perceptions rather than the efforts made behind the scenes.
Additionally, Akothee advised Kanyari to continue loving his children and showing up for them and also avoid conflict, which tampers with their mental health.
Akothee On Co-parenting
“Pastor, if you take this battle to court, remember that the greatest judges may not be the magistrates but the children themselves. Their hearts, experiences, and perceptions will ultimately determine where they feel they belong, not because you have failed, not really. The generation we are raising today surprises even us as parents,” she wrote.
