How FIFA President Gianni Infantino Keeps Up With Multiple World Cup Matches
Share
As much as millions of fans want to know how the FIFA World Cup President Gianni Infantino manages to show up in different stadiums while at the same time keeping track of the ongoing matches, the supporters do not have an easy way of watching two games at home.
Although the supporters find it difficult to watch two games at once in their living rooms, the president has a way around which includes technology, private flights, and tournament logistics.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is creating an even greater challenge since the event is taking place in three countries, namely: the US, Canada, and Mexico, and there are 16 host cities to house 104 matches featuring 48 teams.
FIFA President watching different matches at once does not involve physical presence in different stadiums.
The schedule involves visiting stadiums, watching live broadcasts and traveling rapidly between the different cities.
High ranking members and officials of FIFA have access to the highest viewing spots where different matches are seen at once using multiple screens.
Private Jet Travel Allows Rapid Movement Between Cities
One of the biggest reasons behind Infantino’s packed match schedule is access to private aviation.
The FIFA president has been using a private jet provided through a sponsorship arrangement with Qatar Airways, allowing him to move quickly between host cities.
Unlike ordinary passengers who must deal with commercial flight schedules, security queues and airport delays, private aviation enables FIFA’s top executive to travel according to the tournament calendar.

The scale of the 2026 tournament makes this essential.
Some host cities are separated by thousands of miles, meaning normal travel would make attending multiple matches in one day nearly impossible.
Reports show that Infantino has attempted to attend up to two matches per day, travelling between stadiums in different cities.
He has been seen moving between locations such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and other venues during the tournament.
Technology-Based Viewing of the FIFA Games at the Same Time
In the cases where there are simultaneous games, the FIFA leaders rely on technology for viewing purposes.
In major football events, there is central monitoring through which officials receive live footage of games, statistical analysis, communication between officials, and VAR data.
This helps the FIFA leaders keep abreast of what is happening in games without necessarily being physically present.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system also offers additional monitoring of the games.
In the case of VAR, there are teams working from special places that monitor incidents in the game and communicate with referees in the game while still having a connection to the ongoing game.

Partial Attendance Strategy
Another strategy that can be employed to ensure he attends as many games as possible includes partial attendance.
This involves attending some parts of a particular game and proceeding to another stadium for another game.
Through such a strategy, he is able to enjoy significant parts of the various games like the opening ceremony and meetings with football officials.
It is more effective during the extended format of the World Cup.
