KeNHA Announces Free Training for Unemployed Youth in 4 Counties – How to Apply

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), in partnership with the World Bank, has announced a free technical skills training programme for unemployed youth, project-affected persons, and persons living with disabilities in Isiolo, Meru, Wajir, and Garissa counties.
In a notice dated Tuesday, June 30 2026, the Authority stated that the training will be funded under the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) and is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills to improve their employability and economic opportunities.
According to KeNHA, the second cohort of trainees will undertake one-year craftsmanship courses at selected technical institutions, with successful applicants receiving training at no cost.
The programme will be offered at Nkabune Technical Training Institute, North Eastern National Polytechnic, Bishop Locati Training Institute, Sensei Institute of Technology, and Meru National Polytechnic.
The training will begin once the selection is made and will last for 1 year at 4 institutions.
Youth Skills Training and Application Requirements for KeNHA Programs
Applicants must be aged 18-35 years, and they must have a current Kenya National ID, KCSE certificate (for TVET/CDACC courses), or KCSE certificate (for MNP courses).
Applicants not in possession of a formal education can apply, provided they have a current national ID and a valid driving license.

The board will give priority to applicants with disabilities, orphans, and single parents.
Training will be carried out at Nkubu Technical Training Institute in Meru, the North Eastern National Polytechnic in Garissa, Bishop Locati Training Institute in Isiolo, and at Meru National Polytechnic.
Courses offered include:
- Masonry.
- Electrical installation.
- Plumbing.
- Motor vehicle engineering.
- Beauty therapy.
- Fashion design.
- Welding.
- Carpentry.
- ICT and motor vehicle mechanics.
KenHA explained that the application forms are free and people can obtain forms from KEHNA Regional Offices at Isiolo and Garissa, and from offices of the County Commissioners at Isiolo, Meru, Wajir, and Garissa.
Application Process for KeNHA Development Projects
Forms can also be downloaded from the Authority’s website http://www.kenha.co.ke.
All applicants will sign and stamp the form with the Area Chief or Assistant County Commissioner as proof of residence.
They will register at the drop-off points mentioned in the advert.

The board directed applicants to deliver completed forms to KeNHA Regional Offices in Isiolo and Garissa, or to the County Commissioner’s office in Isiolo, Meru, Wajir, or Garissa.
Applicants must address submissions to: Director, Development, Attn: Deputy Director, HoAGDP, KeNHA, Barbara Plaza, JKIA, P.O. Box 49731-00100, Nairobi.
The application submission deadline is Thursday, 23 July 2026 at 17:00hrs East Africa Time.
