Nairobi Water Announces Three-Month Inspection Exercise in Select Nairobi Estates

Nairobi Water reports widespread water shortages in Nairobi after a pipeline leak forced shutdowns.

Residents of Ruai and Kamulu in Nairobi’s Kasarani Region are set to undergo a comprehensive customer data update and water service assessment exercise after the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) announced a three-month field operation aimed at improving water service delivery.

The exercise, which began on June 8, 2026, will involve verification of customer records, inspection of water infrastructure, meter checks and replacement of faulty meters where necessary.

In a public customer notice, the utility informed customers that the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve water services by identifying service gaps, enhancing response to customer concerns and strengthening the efficiency of its distribution network.

The company said the assessment will cover customer information, water connections, meters, storage facilities and firefighting infrastructure across the two fast-growing estates.

“To continue improving water services in your area, Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (Nairobi Water) will be conducting a Customer Data Update and Water Service Assessment Exercise in Ruai and Kamulu from 8 June 2026 for a period of three months,” Nairobi Water said.

Teams to Visit Homes and Inspect Water Infrastructure

The company stated that its field officers will conduct a detailed review of customer information while assessing the condition of the water distribution network.

“During this exercise, our teams will review customer information and assess the water distribution network, including water connections, meters, storage facilities and firefighting infrastructure. The findings will help us address service gaps, improve response to customer concerns and enhance service delivery,” the water and sewerage company said.

According to the notice, the assessment may require staff to access customer premises to inspect water installations and verify account information.

“Our staff may require access to your premises to verify and update customer information, inspect water connections and meters, replace faulty meters where necessary, expose and secure buried meters for easy reading and maintenance,” Nairobi Water added.

Residents Advised to Verify Staff Identity

With field officers expected to move from one property to another, Nairobi Water also reminded customers to remain vigilant and verify the identity of its staff before granting them access.

“For your security, you can verify the identity of Nairobi Water staff by dialling 260#, selecting Tambua, and following the prompts. For enquiries, Call Kasarani Region: 0700 385 023,” the state agency stated.
