DCI Makes More Arrests After Linda Mwananchi Convoy Attack in Kisii

Police said the latest operation, which was led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Keumbu and officers from the DCI Kisii Central, resulted in the arrest of four additional suspects, bringing the total number of people arrested in connection with the incident to seven.
The National Police Service (NPS) also confirmed that Zaheer Jhanda has been summoned to appear before the Kisii County DCI offices as investigations continue.
Police said they are pursuing further leads to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a violent incident along the Kisii–Keroka Road in which several motor vehicles travelling in a convoy were allegedly stoned and damaged.
In a statement issued on July 4, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives from DCI Kisii Central, working jointly with officers from Keumbu Police Station, conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects following the incident that occurred on Friday, July 3.
According to the DCI, the operation was launched after officers acted on credible intelligence linking the suspects to the disruption along the busy road.
The three suspects were identified as Allan Masese Onyambu, Godffrey Bosire Mokaya and Stanley Okeyo.
Suspects In Custody
Police said the suspects are currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The DCI stated that investigations into the incident are still ongoing as detectives continue pursuing additional suspects believed to have participated in the attack.

Authorities alleged that several vehicles travelling in the convoy were pelted with stones, resulting in damage to the vehicles.
However, the DCI did not disclose the number of vehicles affected or whether any injuries were reported during the incident.
DCI Hunts More Suspects
The DCI reiterated its commitment to pursuing individuals who were involved in acts of violence, destruction of property and actions that endanger public safety.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains steadfast in pursuing all individuals who engage in violence, destroy property, or endanger the safety and security of members of the public. Such criminal acts will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law,” the DCI said.
These arrests come as investigations continue to take place to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify all those who may have been involved.

The suspects are expected to be presented before court once investigations and processing are completed.
Under Kenyan law, suspects remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
