Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has extended the KUCCPS inter-university transfer window from two weeks to one month, giving students more time to apply for transfers to their preferred institutions.
Speaking during the release of the placement results, Ogamba said students who wish to transfer now have adequate time to send their applications.
“As part of career alignment, some students who have been placed today may wish to transfer from one university to another. To allow adequate time and opportunity for such transfers this year, we will be extending the transfer window from two weeks to one month,” Ogamba said.
Ogamba urged students seeking transfers to ensure they meet the admission requirements for the programmes they wish to join.
Transfer Requirements
Under the KUCCPS inter institution transfer process, applicants must satisfy the minimum subject requirements and cut off points for their preferred courses.
Both the releasing and receiving institutions must approve the request before it is processed.

The transfer application is submitted through the KUCCPS Student Portal and attracts a processing fee of Ksh1,000.
The Education CS also assured students that those who successfully transfer to other institutions will remain eligible for government support under the Higher Education Funding model.
KUCCPS
This depends on if the transfer is validated through KUCCPS and the relevant funding agencies are notified to update the student’s records.
He encouraged students to make informed decisions when applying for transfers and to follow official KUCCPS procedures throughout the entire process.
Ogamba said the extended transfer period is intended to ensure students have sufficient time to make informed decisions after reviewing their placement results.
He noted that the move is expected to reduce cases of students missing transfer opportunities due to the previous two-week deadline.
The Cabinet Secretary also urged students and parents to use only the official KUCCPS portal when applying for transfers and cautioned against relying on brokers or unofficial channels.
2025 Placement
He said all transfer requests will be processed through the online KUCCPS system.
This year’s placement exercise saw 293,869 students placed in various higher learning institutions.
