National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has dismissed allegations by DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of spreading false claims about rigging in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election.
In a statement issued on July 10, Ichung’wah termed the allegations baseless and politically motivated, saying they were intended to mislead voters and undermine confidence in the electoral process ahead of the mini-poll.
“I take great exception to the reckless, false, and malicious allegations levelled against me today by Mr. Gachagua regarding the forthcoming Ol Kalou by-election,” he said.
Ichung’wah argued that Gachagua’s claims stem from panic, maintaining that Gachagua has failed to present a convincing agenda to the electorate.
He dismissed allegations that he held meetings with Deputy County Commissioners to influence the outcome of the by-election, terming them defamatory and unfounded.
“His claims that I have held meetings with Deputy County Commissioners to influence the election are entirely false, baseless, and defamatory,” he stated.

Ichung’wah to Take Legal Action Over Rigging Allegations
At the same time, Ichung’wah warned that he would pursue legal action against Gachagua over the rigging claims, saying they directly attack his integrity and the credibility of the electoral process.
He insisted that the allegations must be tested in court, adding that political rhetoric cannot stand judicial scrutiny.
“Because this empty political rhetoric now touches on my integrity, I will take legal action against Mr. Gachagua. He will have the opportunity to substantiate every allegation he has made before a court of law,” he added.
Voters Urged to Reject Intimidation
Additionally, Ichung’wah accused Gachagua’s allies of engaging in divisive tactics, including distributing materials aimed at instilling fear among voters in Ol Kalou.
However, he expressed confidence that voters would reject such efforts and make independent decisions during the by-election.
“The people of Ol Kalou will not be intimidated or manipulated. They will make their choice peacefully, freely, and democratically,” he said.
Background to the Claims
This follows earlier claims by Gachagua that the government purchased a house worth Ksh 80 million in Karen for IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon as part of a plan to influence the 2027 General Election in favour of President William Ruto.
He also claimed that senior leaders, including Kimani Ichung’wah and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, were involved in coordinating the alleged scheme.
Additionally, Gachagua alleged that Deputy County Commissioners had been summoned to Gilgil, where Ichung’wah instructed them to organise chiefs and assistant chiefs who would later receive money on election night to influence voters at the household level.
