The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service ( KUCCPS) has raised alarm over fraudulent online forms circulating on social media, falsely claiming to offer inter-institutional transfer services and HELB account creation.

In an official statement issued on July 10, KUCCPS dismissed the links as misleading and confirmed that the transfer window has not yet opened.

“Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has NOT started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications. Application dates will be announced soon through this X Page, KUCCPS website and Student’s Portal. Beware of false and misleading information. Do not fall victim to online scammers!” the agency stated.

Screenshots circulating online show messages urging students seeking transfers to fill out a Google Form for “assistance.”

The messages encourage applicants to begin the process early as they wait for official communication and present the form as the “first step” in KUCCPS applications.

KUCCPS Details Captured in the Fake Screenshots

Additionally, content in the screenshots appears under the title “KUCCPS Transfers and HELB Account Creation.”

The message directs students to request transfer assistance through a provided link and further claims that those waiting for admission letters can begin HELB account setup through the same process.

Moreover, the forms require applicants to provide personal details and select reasons for transfer, including school fees, medical condition, distance or failure to secure a preferred programme.

Payment Request Raises Concern

Notably, one of the forms asks applicants to pay a KSh 600 “service fee” via a mobile number under Pochi la Biashara.

It then instructs them to paste a payment confirmation message after completing the transaction, raising concerns about possible financial fraud.

Meanwhile, the agency maintains that it offers all its services exclusively through official channels and does not authorize third-party links or paid assistance.

Therefore, the placement service urges students, parents and guardians to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal or financial information through unverified platforms.

The agency emphasizes that it will communicate all official updates regarding transfer applications through its verified platforms, including its website, social media pages, and student portal.
