Grade 10 Student Dies After Alleged Fight Over Who Will Pray at Thika High School

An incident reportedly occurred at Thika High School after a fight over prayers between two Grade 10 students allegedly turned fatal and ended in the death of one student.

It is reported that the altercation took place on July 11, 2036, when one student is said to have pushed another from the first floor of a school building while fighting.

The student named Mohamed Hare, a 16-year-old Grade 10 student, reportedly fell to the ground below and sustained severe injuries.

According to the school officials, the student was taken to the school’s dispensary before being rushed to the hospital.

Mohamed Rushed To Hospital

The injured student was reportedly pronounced dead following the incident after being rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital.

Preliminary reports indicate that the altercation arose from a disagreement related to evening prayers, during which Mohamed sustained fatal injuries.

Police have launched investigations into the incident, while the student involved has been taken into custody for questioning as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic death.

The school principal, Julius Muraya, confirmed that the incident took place before the students went to sleep and teachers on duty responded to the incident and rushed Mohamed to the hospital.

Ongoing Investigations

Thika Sub-County Police Commander John Kimanthi confirmed that detectives have begun recording statements from students, teachers and other witnesses to establish the sequence of events leading to the fatal incident.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation to establish exactly what happened.

Mohamed’s mother received a call from school. She was told her 16-year-old son had been involved in a fight at school.

She was asked to report to school urgently. She says she asked the caller whether her son was alive or dead but instead, the caller ended the call.

Suspect In Custody

She and other relatives found the lifeless body of their son on a hospital bed.

The family of the deceased is demanding justice for their son and a thorough investigation into the matter.

Homicide detectives have launched investigations into the incident. At the same time, the suspected student has been arrested and detained at Thika police station to be questioned as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
