Suspect Arrested Over Brutal Murder of TUK Lecturer

Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) lecturer Edgar Mokua.

According to a statement by DCI dated July 22 2026, the late Edgar Mokua’s body was discovered after he had mysteriously disappeared from his Lavington home.

The suspect arrested is Richard Gikuhe Mbugua, who was arrested within Ruiru Blue Estate after a manhunt by the detectives.

Mokua, was last seen on July 6, 2026, when leaving his residence at Princes Park in Lavington at around 4.20 p.m. and never returned home.

How Edgar Mokua Body Was Discovered

His relatives later noticed he was missing and decided to report the matter to Muthangari police station after they tried looking for him but did not find him.

After five days, his body was found at the City Mortuary where it had been taken by officers from Kiamumbi Police Station after it had been discovered near Woodcreek Academy.

Detectives established that a grey Toyota Ractis with the registration number KBZ 002R was the vehicle responsible for dropping Mokua’s body at the scene before speeding away.

This vehicle belongs to the suspect and was recovered at Murera Farm within Juja in Kiambu County.

Preliminary Investigations

Homicide detectives then took over the case and preliminary investigations revealed a series of events leading to Mokua’s death.

The detectives then established that on the night Mokua disappeared, he had spent several hours at Kettle Club in Lavington with two men and a woman before going to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall.

The people Mokua was with then left him behind and were not seen again. His body was then discovered dumped near Woodcreek Academy.

The suspect is in custody undergoing processing pending his arraignment in court.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, with the vehicle of the suspect being detained by detectives as evidence.
