DCI Gives Update on Investigations Into Fatal Shooting of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued an update on investigations into the fatal shooting of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area on July 29, 2026.

In a statement on July 30, DCI said detectives have arrested two persons of interest as investigations intensify into the fatal shooting.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) wishes to update members of the public on the progress made in investigations into the fatal shooting of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, which occurred on 29th July 2026 in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area,” DCI stated.

The suspects are currently in lawful custody and undergoing interrogation as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Investigations Intensify in Killing of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso

Since taking over the case, homicide detectives, supported by specialised investigative and forensic teams, have pursued multiple leads through witness interviews, forensic analysis and targeted operations.

As part of the ongoing probe, detectives have conducted searches at premises linked to persons of interest.

The operations resulted in the recovery of exhibits considered relevant to the investigation, which are currently undergoing detailed forensic analysis.

“Additional investigative actions remain underway as detectives continue to analyse the recovered exhibits and pursue other critical leads,” DCI stated.

The identities of the persons of interest remain undisclosed at this stage as detectives seek to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

DCI Reaffirms Commitment to Justice

The agency has reaffirmed its commitment to establishing the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensuring accountability.

“The DCI remains firmly committed to conducting a thorough, impartial and expeditious investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and ensure that any person found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law,” DCI added.

The agency has also expressed condolences to the family of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso while appreciating cooperation from members of the public as investigations continue.

“The DCI once again conveys its sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the late Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, and appreciates the continued cooperation and support extended by members of the public as investigations progress,” the agency stated.
