Safaricom Explains How to Get Rid of Flash Messages After Making a Call

Have you felt frustrated when flash messages pop up after you make or receive a call? These notifications interrupt conversations and temporarily take over the screen. Fortunately, Safaricom has shared simple steps that can help users disable these unwanted pop-ups.

Unlike SMS messages, these notifications appear as USSD flash messages. They deliver promotional content, service offers, account notifications, or encouragements directly to your screen. In most cases, users receive prompts asking them to subscribe to a caller tune or another Safaricom service.

Similarly, some customers receive a pop-up message immediately after ending a phone call. These messages often provide account information, promote Safaricom services, or display marketing offers. Since users must dismiss them before continuing, many find them distracting and unnecessary.

Fortunately, depending on the type of notification, Safaricom provides different methods to stop them.

Disable Call Sign Flash Messages

If the pop-up message relates to the Call Sign service, Safaricom advises customers to deactivate the service using a simple USSD code.

First, dial *836# and follow the prompts. Next, select ok. Once you complete the process, the Call Sign flash messages should no longer appear during or after calls.

This solution targets one of the most common flash messages reported by Safaricom users. Therefore, customers who frequently receive caller tune subscription prompts should try this method first.

Turn Off End of Call Notifications

Some users receive a pop-up message immediately after ending every phone call. These are known as End of Call Notifications.

Fortunately, Safaricom also allows customers to disable these messages. To turn them off, dial *456#. Then select My Account. After that, choose End of Call Notification and follow the prompts to opt out of the service.

Once you complete the process, the end-of-call pop-up notifications should stop appearing on your screen. As a result, your calling experience becomes smoother and less interrupted. You also avoid unnecessary promotional messages after every completed call.
