Trump Announces New Gaza Governance Plan After Hamas Disarmament Deal

President of the United States Donald Trump has announced an agreement that would see Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza completely disarmed as part of a broader plan to reshape the territory’s governance and security.

In a statement dated July 30, 2026,  Trump said the agreement represents a significant breakthrough toward ending years of conflict and creating conditions for long-term peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

“Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY,” read part of the statement.

Trump Claims Deal Reached to Disarm Hamas and Armed Groups in Gaza 

Under the proposed arrangement, Gaza would be governed by a new Palestinian government that would work alongside the Board of Peace to rebuild the territory and serve its residents.

In addition, Trump said the new administration would replace Hamas as the governing authority and help ensure stability while addressing the needs of Palestinians living in Gaza.

He added that the plan is intended to balance Palestinian self-governance with Israel’s security concerns.

“This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks,” Trump stated.

Trump further said implementation of the agreement would take place in several phases rather than all at once.

He noted that Israeli forces would begin withdrawing from Gaza as the agreed disarmament process is completed and security responsibilities transferred to an International Stabilization Force working jointly with a newly established Palestinian police force.

Challenges Remain Despite Historic Gaza Breakthrough 

The president also said the transition is designed to ensure Gaza remains secure for both its residents and neighboring Israel.

Furthermore, Trump described the accord as a major milestone in what he called the “Trump 20-Point Plan,” adding that the latest agreement builds on efforts to move the region beyond the conflict that erupted following the October 7 attack.

He also credited regional mediators with helping secure the agreement, specifically thanking Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye for their diplomatic efforts and commended members of his administration, saying their negotiations were instrumental in reaching the deal.

“I want to thank the mediators-Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye-for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible,” read part of the statement.

While celebrating the agreement, Trump acknowledged that challenges remain before the plan can be fully implemented.

He noted that a year earlier, the region had been engulfed in war, with hostages still in captivity and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
