Govt Issues Fresh Directives to NYOTA Beneficiaries in Select Counties Ahead of Training

The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme has announced that beneficiaries in 18 counties will begin a 20-day Socio-Emotional Skills Development (SESD) training on August 3 ahead of their workplace placements. 

In a notice dated July 31, NYOTA urged beneficiaries in Lot 5, Lot 6 and Lot 7 to prepare for the training, which will run for 20 working days as part of the programme’s On-the-Job Experience (OJE) component.

“Attention NYOTA Beneficiaries. Kama uko Lot 5, Lot 6 ama Lot 7 Counties tumefikiwa sasa. Socio-Emotional Skills Development (SESD) training inaanza 3rd August 2026 na itaendelea kwa 20 working days,” the programme stated.

NYOTA Releases Training Schedule for Beneficiaries in Lot 5, 6 and 7 Counties 

According to the programme, the SESD training is designed to equip beneficiaries with essential workplace skills before they proceed to their placements.

NYOTA further said participants will receive training aimed at building confidence, improving communication skills, strengthening teamwork and enhancing resilience.

“This is your chance to build confidence, communication skills, teamwork na resilience kabla uingie workplace placement,” the programme stated.

In addition, beneficiaries were encouraged to take advantage of the training opportunity as they prepare to transition into the workplace.

The latest phase of the programme targets beneficiaries from 18 counties grouped under Lots 5, 6 and 7 as follows:

More Than 122,000 Youth Benefit From Business Support 

This development comes weeks after the government launched the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme’s business support component, disbursing more than Ksh 3 billion to over 122,000 young entrepreneurs.

According to the government, each beneficiary received a second Ksh 25,000 disbursement, bringing the total financial support under the programme to Ksh 50,000 per beneficiary to help start or expand a business.

The government said the initiative is aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs by providing seed capital to strengthen small businesses and improve youth employment opportunities across the country.

During the launch, President William Ruto also directed the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs Development to establish a national NYOTA identification mechanism to enable beneficiaries to access government services and incentives more seamlessly.

He further instructed government financing institutions, including the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Uwezo Fund, Women Enterprise Fund and Kenya Industrial Estates, to develop a dedicated NYOTA Growth Product to provide additional financing to businesses established by programme beneficiaries.
