Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s eldest son, Dan Totto, is receiving treatment after reportedly sustaining injuries in a road accident on Saturday evening while travelling from Nairobi to Migori.

In a statement dated August 2, Dan Totto thanked family, friends and well-wishers for their prayers, saying all three occupants in his vehicle and the driver of the other car escaped with minor injuries.

“To friends and relatives, I thank you so much for sending me the best of wishes and prayers. It’s true I was in an accident on my way home from Nairobi. Luckily all three occupants in the vehicle I was driving and the driver of the other car (he was alone) escaped with minor injuries. In all we give thanks to the Lord,” Totto stated.

Although preliminary reports identified the vehicle as a Lexus, with some claiming it was a Lexus LX 600 previously associated with former Governor Obado, Dan Totto is yet to confirm his vehicle’s model.

Meanwhile, following the extensive damage to the vehicles, Kenyans expressed relief after Okoth Obado’s son shared that everyone involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries.

Thanks, my son, for making this clarification. God is in control, and all will be well,” stated Domnic Akugo.

The incident also sparked debate on social media, with some users speculating about what may have caused the crash, including speeding.

However, no official report has been released to confirm the cause of the crash, and authorities are yet to state the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Former Migori Governor Found Guilty of Murder

Dan Totto is the elder son of former governor Okoth Obado, who was found guilty of murdering a pregnant 26-year-old university student with whom he had been having an affair.

In 2018, Sharon Otieno’s bloodied body was found dumped in a thicket outside a small town in western Kenya.

Following this murder, Obado and two co-accused were convicted of arranging the killing.

According to the court, he supplied motive, instigation and funds to finance the criminal enterprise while former personal assistant Michael Oyamo facilitated execution and former county clerk Caspal Obiero ensured logistical support and concealment to avoid detection of the offence.

However, the three are yet to face sentencing but are under police custody.
